   旋转行为经常作为药理学/多巴胺能对脑损害动物的表现的指标。脑损害会诱使旋转行为。Rotat-Count-8是一个三十二位旋转监视系统，能全面和部分记录实验小动物的旋转运动。在实际操作中，测试对象戴上一个马甲，此马甲非常轻和粘有柔软的绳链。绳链作为一个旋转译码器能够监视实验对象的角度。旋转译码器的轴由球状轴承支持，它只需要5英寸-盎司的扭矩，不会成为实验对象正常活动的障碍。旋转译码器分解每个旋转成100个部分（3.6度）。Rota-Count 8监视顺时针和逆时针旋转行为。每个Rota-Count 8单位监测8个实验对象。通过标准的第5类网络/通信电缆，最多可连接4个Rota-Count 8单位。
   Rota-Count8支持视窗95/98/XP软件，可连接台式PC或手提电脑，以收集实验数据和以*.CSV格式存储文件。软件可监控局部和全部旋转。局部旋转是由操作者定义，可从15到180度设定，以15度递增。操作者可以输入单个实验对象的注释，也可以是总的实验的注释。在实验过程中可以通过控制显示屏观察到运行表格，知道每个实验对象的旋转得分。“交错开始”可以允许操作这个别地开始收集每个动物的数据。这可以让一个操作者有充分的可能准备和监测多个实验对象。如果所有的活动对象需要一个共同的起始时间，“同步开始”可以提供。
